Other sizes of all types with registration may be possible in individual cases. All types comply with the version approved by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik, Berlin, in accordance with DIN 4102, in line with the accident prevention regulations for power-driven windows and doors issued by the central management board of the industrial employers' liability insurance associations, ZH 1/494.

Design
Rolling shutter curtain made of sendzimir galvanized steel base and cover profiles, each 1 mm thick, filled with insulating mat that is securely fastened with hooks or studs, with the same insulation beneath the cover profiles.
With safety contact strip as closing edge protection to protect against injury, and design model-tested centrifugal roll protection.
Rolling shutter shafts with corrosion-resistant primer coat, welded blanks with shaft extensions, ball joint bearings, chain wheel with plastic chain protection, welded bearing brackets with primer coat.
Guides: made of galvanized sheet steel, at least 80 mm deep.
Fire protection encasement: for rolled up shutters, frame structure including fastening material, with inspection openings in the area of the operating elements and bearings, made of galvanized steel with fire-protective cladding.
Special electromechanical drive: 400/230 V with automatic advance gear to limit the closing speed to 15 cm/sec., automatic circulatory lubrication, multiple disc brake, control unit and siren.

Approved hold-open system as a central control unit; in normal operating mode, it electronically holds the fire-resistant rolling shutter open and closes it reliable if an alarm sounds or a malfunction occurs by interrupting the energy supply to the holding magnet on the drive and by opening the drive brake. The door's own weight causes it to close independently of any power supply – controlled by an automatic advance mechanism in the drive. The safety contact strip that is stipulated by accident prevention regulations stops the closing movement if the door encounters an obstacle. In the event of an alarm going off, the door continues to close once the closing edge protection is released. In the event of activation, this safety feature is controlled and kept functional by the low current brake on the drive.

Hold-open system: Scope of supply
Hold-open system in lockable steel cupboard with transformer, 24 direct current supply device with storage batteries, charger with monitoring function, visual and acoustic malfunction signals with digital LED error display, mechanical siren on the drive, 1 emergency manual switch covered with glass, smoke detectors on both sides of the rolling shutter on the ceiling, number of detectors according to size of door:

  • one each for door widths up to 4000 mm,
  • two each up to 8000 mm,
  • three each up to 12000 mm.

Smoke detectors must be installed on one side of the header, close to the lower edge if the header height exceeds 1000 mm (at additional cost, the number again depends on the width of the door, as already indicated above). Reference regulations.

Special equipment:
  • Interface for central control station, control mechanism using surface or flush mounted key contact switches, with cover lock and inserted profile half cylinder with three keys
  • Temperature-sensitive indicator
  • Electrical 24 V siren on the drive instead of a mechanical siren

Quality surveillance:
A separately approved hold-open system forms an integral part of each generally approved fire-resistant rolling shutter. In addition to the quality control of the fire-resistant rolling shutter, the quality of the hold-open system is also controlled by the German Association of Property Insurers (Verband der Schadenversicherer e.V., VdS or GDV). Our fire-resistant rolling shutters hold both approvals and therefore comply with all safety requirements.

Works that must be performed by the customer
If the clear opening dimensions of fire-resistant rolling shutters are more or less than the specified minimum or maximum limits, the property owner or its representative must obtain approval from the most superior construction supervision authority in each individual case.
Under certain circumstance, it may be necessary to provide and mark a pass door with the corresponding fire protection classification in the direct vicinity of the fire-resistant rolling shutter.

The weld-on plates for fastening the doors must be supplied and installed in accordance with our specifications. All steel parts can also be fastened with through bolts (additional work that is charged). In this case, the surfaces for mounting the rolling shutter parts must be smooth

Walls
Minimum strength of the walls:

  • Concrete or reinforced concrete in accordance with DIN 1045, strength class B15
  • Masonry in accordance with DIN 1053, bricks of strength class 12 MN/m²,
    mortar group III.

Tolerance for all construction dimensions:
+10 mm. The customer is responsible for testing and ensuring that the components to which the doors are fastened are structurally adequate.

Delivery and installation
We recommend that you commission us to assemble the fire-resistant rolling shutters and to perform the necessary electrical installations. In this case, our scope of supply includes the following, unless otherwise agreed:

  • Delivery to the building site
  • Installation on recessed steel plates installed on-site to our specifications
  • Wiring and connection of the operator and all safety and switching elements from the 400 V three-phase current supplied on-site up to the required position of the switch cabinet in the direct vicinity of the door
  • Initial inspection and adjustment of all limit switches
  • Handover of the door and relevant inspection log, and training of the operator

Notes
Our T30 rolling shutters are patent protected. They require neither stops nor front installations. This simplifies the planning and eliminates a considerable portion of the installation costs. T30 rolling shutter curtains have a sound insulation value of approx. 30 dB, T90 and T120 rolling shutters of approx. 45 dB. They can all be fitted with a engaging mechanism as a special feature, to allow the easy re-engagement of the holding magnet following alarm-activated release of the door (e.g. to test the hold-open system).
Fire-resistant rolling shutters are designed for a service life of about 30 years, whereby this calculation assumes that the shutter is not opened and closed more than about 10,000 times during this period..
Fire-resistant rolling shutters are not intended for use as normal doors that are opened and closed several times a day. Such use is not practical since fire-resistant rolling shutters open and close very slowly and repairs cost significantly more than standard rolling shutters. In these cases we recommend a combination of a fire-resistant rolling shutter, which is permanently open, with a standard rolling shutter that is opened and closed as needed. In the event that several fire-resistant rolling shutters are intended to create a fire wall (in which case they are generally placed next to each other), the property owner must clarify whether the doors should all close together (which is normally the case) and whether this closing in unison should be ensured by a fire detection system or a collective control mechanism that we can supply.

If ceilings are suspended, sufficiently large flaps or removable ceiling elements must be provided to allow for the performance of inspection, maintenance and repair works.
