Signal 601 fingerprint scanner

"Signal 601" with BioKey®INSIDE: award-winning access control
New fingerprint scanner from Novoferm has already received several prizes for innovation
Rees, June 2011. Innumerous different approaches have already been undertaken to prevent unauthorized access to a garage or home while at the same time making authorized access as easy as possible. Novoferm has now developed a particularly successful innovation: the "Signal 601" fingerprint scanner with BioKey®INSIDE. Highly accurate, self-optimizing and self-teaching, and with a design that has already won several awards, this innovation successfully sets one of Europe's leading system suppliers of doors, garage doors, frames and drives well apart from the standard to date.
An opinion that is shared by professors and industry experts, as well. As demonstrated by the fact that the "Signal 601" has won five awards this year alone in recognition of its excellent usability and innovativeness; these include the "Industry Award 2011" in the category "Electrical technology", which the fingerprint scanner won during the Hanover Fair 2011, and the "design plus" award for outstanding design at the "light+building" fair.
The biometric technology of the "Signal 601" comprises a modular concept based on recognition software that has also been newly developed. A previously defined and stored fingerprint is all it takes for the scanner to automatically open a door.
False rejection rate is virtually "zero"!
While this alone may constitute a comfortable feature, it is not exactly unique. The uniqueness of the Novoferm solution becomes apparent as soon as the fingerprint scanner is put to more frequent use: The "Signal 601" is the first of its kind in the world to reduce the so-called false rejection rate, whereby an authorized fingerprint is not recognized and is therefore rejected, to virtually "zero".
According to the manufacturer, the error rate in biometric recognition is thus so tiny that users are subjected to practically no inconvenience from having to repeat any previously failed recognition procedure – quite unlike other systems in daily use.
Continually improving
The fingerprint that is stored once in the "Signal 601" fingerprint scanner is unaffected by external influences, such as rain or dust. This makes the "automatic opening function" with BioKey®INSIDE particularly suitable for outdoor use on doors, garage doors, switch programs or intercoms, which are exposed to inclement weather.
But that is not all that sets the new addition to the Novoferm range apart: the system also automatically optimizes the fingerprint. This function continually improves recognition performance, the longer the system is in operation.
Modular design
Driveways or access points can be modularly equipped with the "Signal 601" fingerprint scanner. As such, the system is just as ideal for successive retrofitting on buildings as it is for enhancing existing systems.

The "Signal 601" fingerprint scanner features not only a design that has already won several awards; it is also highly functional, and gets better and better in daily use.
