Open and close Novoferm fireproof and smokeproof sliding doors without force
SKE doors now available with free swing function:
Rees, May 2011. Fire-retardant or fire-resistant sliding doors are a crucial element in any industrial or commercially used building. On the one hand, they reliably isolate fire sections, but on the other hand without hindering in-house logistics, thanks to their sill-free and wide-opening design. The T30 and T90 fire-resistant sliding doors, type SKE, made by Novoferm go one step further in proving their suitability for practical application: They can now be opened and closed easily, even without electrical operation, with the building code approved free swing function.
SKE fire-resistant sliding doors made by Novoferm are extremely versatile: The single or double door units with approved inlet/outlet and ceiling shutters, with sill-less pass doors or glazing, are suitable for a wide range of applications that meet virtually all of the requirements in industrial and commercial buildings. The optionally available free swing function developed by Novoferm offers additional benefits.
he leading European system provider of doors, garage doors, frames and drives has developed a counterweight, which is decoupled in normal operation, and which enables these sliding doors to be opened and closed by hand without excessive force. In many cases, there is therefore no longer any need for the formerly optional power drive for easier operation of the door.
Thanks to the counterweight, combined with a radial buffer, the door closes gently, and therefore quietly.
The fire-resistant sliding doors with free swing function are available in approved sizes up to 8,500 x 6,000 mm. Existing SKE door systems from Novoferm Riexinger can also be inexpensively retrofitted.
The free swing function is simple to retrofit and is automatically activated the first time the door is opened. It also allows Novoferm sliding doors to be moved to any required position. As such, this function constitutes an inexpensive alternative to the otherwise frequently required pass door as a means of passage that is easy to open.
The doors nevertheless guarantee unrestricted safety in the event of a fire: the door closes automatically from any position in the event of a fire. This ensures the requisite protective function in all circumstances.

In spite of the heavy weight of the leaf, the new fire-resistant sliding doors with free swing function are child's play to operate, requiring virtually only a tap of the finger – existing doors can also be retrofitted.
